"PakMaweshi is a marketplace app developed by talented high school students from Lahore, Pakistan. This innovative app provides direct access to livestock farmers to sell their produce in the region with the potential of expansion all over the country. The app is user-friendly, in Urdu and the inclusion of an Urdu voiceover feature is particularly commendable, making the app useable for all segments of the society regardless of their gender or education level.
The Livestock Department of the Government of Punjab fosters growth and dissemination of information to farmers to increase productivity, efficiency and inclusion. A wider use of this app will be a step towards the fulfillment of the goals of the Livestock Department and also a step towards the wider SDGs 1,2 and 5. The empowerment of women by providing access to market on their phones through this app is expected to lead towards better livelihoods and socio-economic growth for livestock farming.
